Mission Statement

Vittoria Chess began with a question Jorge Maestro asked himself: what if the chess pieces were reimagined from nothing? He took the question seriously, and has not let go of it since.

One rule governs everything. The square is the essence of chess — the board, the origin. So the pieces had to be born from the square, and continue only through the purest forms: the triangle and the sphere. An internal logic that explains every line.

Making them took years of trials, until the method was found without surrendering a single millimetre of the drawn form. The distance between the idea and the finished object is zero. And yet these pure forms are not cold. Forms that, as critics have written without being asked, seem to have come to life.

Jorge Maestro does not produce objects. He builds works meant to outlast the people who own them.

Jorge Maestro

Artist & Founder

Jorge Maestro is a Spanish architect, founder of Vittoria Chess, a project where chess becomes a work of art. Born into a family of artists, his fascination with the game began at the age of five.

Guided by his travels around the world, his vision merges reason and creativity, geometry and imagination. His architectural background has given him a profound understanding of materials, which he translates into every creation with precision and emotion.

For Jorge Maestro, chess pieces are more than objects: they hold a hidden soul. His work seeks to reveal that essence through pure geometric forms, harmony, and balance.

"With the creation of the vertical chessboard, he redefines both the competition and its place in design—transforming it into a declaration of art, strategy, and exclusivity".
