JORGE MAESTRO
FOUNDER
Spanish thoroughbred. Born in Granada, a city brimming with magic and history. There he discovers, together with his mother (also an artist) his greatest gift, the sensibility for beauty. Since then, the quest for virtue and beauty have guided his destiny.
As an architect J. Maestro discovers the power of light and materials through space.
For more than 10 years he decided to travel the world exploring new forms of expression: design, literature, movement... disciplines that have shaped his way of seeing the world today.
His work is a reflection of his values.
For J. Maestro "beauty, in any of its expressions, is achieved through virtue. Passion and unconditional dedication are fundamental values for everything that has managed to transcend time and elevate the spirit".
VITTORIA
J. Maestro learned to play chess when he was only 5 years old... One summer afternoon that, without knowing it, would mark his destiny forever.
This is how one of the most ambitious projects of his life was born: Vittoria.
The result of a tireless/obstinate/tenacious search for perfection. The materialisation of an idea: to immortalise the eternal beauty of chess through the purest forms.

PIECES
"I wanted to create a chess like no other. Something new, original and disruptive, but at the same time respecting the immortal essence of its predecessors.
Each of the pieces had to be instantly recognisable, as if it had been around forever, that has been one of the biggest challenges".
Two shapes serve as guides, the square and the circle. The earth and the sky, the solid versus the ethereal. A perfect balance between emotion and reason.
- The pawn, as someone who has given his life to his destiny (constant advance), its shapes evoke submission and attack.
- The knight is the geometric expression of its essence.
- The bishop, the bishop. Passage of time, fast, sharp. Clever... inclined planes that evoke its speed, its diagonality on the board.
- The rook, architecture in movement. It represents an unshakable solidity.
- The queen is haughty, regal, feminine and elegant. It represents power, the silhouette of absolute domination over the board.
- The king, the reason for existence. Lines that evoke authority, masculinity and strength.
Each piece is finally finished in Nappa leather, a choice that is not mere luxury, but a declaration of principles. Touch is as important a sense as beauty. The feel, the weight, the texture, the sensation of purity and perfection. A chess game that is not only a game of chess, but also a game of chess.
